I wanted to get comfortable with squats and deadlifts while also finding a new routine that fit around my life as a university student.

2. Since training with me, what do you feel you have achieved?

I feel a lot more comfortable with squatting and deadlifting and feel good to be confident training by myself as it was a struggler before we started.

3. What concerns, if any, did you have about starting training with me and how do you feel about those now?

None really I was pretty confident about us working together after the initial consultation and our first session after that.

4. How do you feel training has positively impacted your life outside of sessions? (More confident, more energy, less pain etc)

In the 8 weeks of working together I have noticed more muscle definition, especially around my arms and shoulders. Plus feeling stronger in general.

5. What has surprised you about working with me?

It surprised me how easy flowing our conversations and sessions felt, and we had lots of similar interests.

6. What has been the best thing about working with me?

Learning to squat and deadlift properly alongside our great chats during the sessions.

Martyn Loukes BEM

1. To kick things off, what made you start training with me?

I had another personal trainer who was leaving, and Kai and I had spoken often in the gym. He was a natural choice for me as I liked his interest in my progress and he always made time to not just say hello but to also engage. Plus he laughed at all my silly jokes, definite win there.

2. Since training with me, what do you feel you have achieved?

Leaps and bounds with Kai. I can see the physical progress so much now, and for someone in their 50s it was something I didn’t think would be possible. Much of this was keeping fit and losing weight sensibly but our routines have proved to be truly life changing. The confidence it’s given me had helped my mental health and re-energised my mindset.

3. What concerns, if any, did you have about starting training with me and how do you feel about those now?

Chemistry is so important when starting with a new PT. Because we’d already spoken many times I knew we’d be a good fit. Our sessions are fun too, because workouts should never feel like chores.

4. How do you feel training has positively impacted your life outside of sessions? (More confident, more energy, less pain etc)

As a gay man, I think sometimes the community focuses too much on body type. I’ve been able to achieve a transformation but still kept grounded. This is the positive mindset Kai helps to bring with him. I can also be quite injury prone, so we have a very varied mix of exercises that have helped with recovery.

5. What has surprised you about working with me?

Quite how funny and interesting Kai is. Our workouts are never boring. I love to train on my own but really look forward to a zany off-the-wall reparte with him.

6. What has been the best thing about working with me?

Becoming much stronger as I get older, losing weight at a time I needed to.

1. To kick things off, what made you start training with me?

I wanted to work with you as you have expertise in injury recovery. I needed help after an operation on my shoulder.

2. Since training with me, what do you feel you have achieved?I feel much stronger and more confident, and the development has been incredible. Ever since staring together, I’ve felt my ability, strength and range of motion all improve. I’ve also gained muscle mass, which is great!

3. What concerns, if any, did you have about starting training with me and how do you feel about those now?

I was worried that I wouldn’t be able to recover at all post surgery on my shoulder. That fear disappeared quickly. By starting slowly, I can look back and see that the development has been noticeable every single week.

4. How do you feel training has positively impacted your life outside of sessions? (More confident, more energy, less pain etc)

Definitely more confident in my ability and appearance. I don’t have the worries that I did before, and that impacts all aspects of every day life.

5. What has surprised you about working with me?

The strength that has come from the training. I honestly never expected to be lifting what I can now. It’s a great experience seeing how far I’ve come.

6. What has been the best thing about working with me?

The best thing for me has been the way we interact. It’s very relaxed, and I like that.

Progress Highlights:

  • Lost over 10kg while building significantly greater overall strength and fitness.

  • Completely resolved chronic lower back pain caused by a desk based lifestyle.

  • Built strong gym confidence and consistency after previous failed attempts to stay on track.

  • Transformed body image and developed a much more positive relationship with training and self confidence.

  • Developed sustainable training habits through a balanced approach of accountability, education, and adaptability.

1. To kick things off, what made you start training with me?

Due to lower back pain from working a desk job and generally wanting to get fit, I'd tried to get myself into the habit of going to the gym a few times over 2 years before but wasn't getting the results / consistency I wanted.

2. Since training with me, what do you feel you have achieved?

Since working with Kai I've lost over 10kg, became far stronger than I'd ever been in life, resolved my back pain completely, went from disliking my body to actually being happy with it (except for my birth bearing hips but nothing I can do about that), and become as confident as one can be in the gym.

3. What concerns, if any, did you have about starting training with me and how do you feel about those now?

Not about you in particular but I was concerned that a PT who didn't understand how I worked or what I was going for would put me off of it completely. I wanted someone to keep me honest and consistent but also be understanding of my limitations at the same time and Kai has been the perfect blend where if I'm struggling with something he'll adapt the routine so that I have no excuse but to keep going, which helps especially as I'm quite injury prone. Kai is also very friendly and easy to get along with, our sessions are as filled with banter as they are successful in helping me achieve my goals.

4. How do you feel training has positively impacted your life outside of sessions? (More confident, more energy, less pain etc)

As I mentioned previously I am pretty much completely rid of my back pain, which at times was debilitating. I feel better physically and emotionally.

5. What has surprised you about working with me?

I thought I'd need almost militant style training to keep me with my routine but Kai proved me wrong, and that it can be done with patience and understanding instead. In addition I've learnt a lot more about the science behind training, muscle groups, and diet by asking questions which Kai is always happy to answer.

6. What has been the best thing about working with me?

As much as the gym can sometimes feel like a chore, I look forward to our weekly sessions together as he instills more confidence and motivation into me no matter the results.

Steve L

1. To kick things off, what made you start training with me?

Before starting with you I had got myself into a rut where I was going to the gym regularly but not really pushing myself and just repeating the same old routine. I had lost focus, motivation and any real sense of progression. I needed a personal trainer who could help me break out of that pattern, bring structure back into my training, and get me moving forward again.

2. Since training with me, what do you feel you have achieved?

Since starting personal training sessions with Kai, I have seen great gains. I am hitting personal bests in most sessions and making consistent progress every single week. I now have a clear focus and goal. You push me to reach the next level in a controlled way, which has massively increased my confidence in the gym. At the same time.

3. What concerns, if any, did you have about starting training with me and how do you feel about those now?

I had no concerns about you or your ability and its your statement within your PT profile the made me decide that this would be a good fit.

4. How do you feel training has positively impacted your life outside of sessions? (More confident, more energy, less pain etc)

It has given me more confidence, the motivation to go further, and has also encouraged me to look more closely at my nutrition and make more informed choices.

5. What has surprised you about working with me?

Your dedication and how you care about how i perform, my wellbeing and just asking how i am. You have become a true friend, which the more sessions we have the more I am getting to know you as a person.

6. What has been the best thing about working with me?

Hamsters, sweetcorn, hippos and all the random ways you’ve come up with to describe the weight I’m lifting have genuinely made the sessions memorable. It makes it fun, engaging and never too serious, but always an element of push, lets go for it! I always look forward to our session.
